The Only Quadruple
In August 1906, Yorkshire all-rounder George Hirst produced what remains the only “quadruple” in first-class cricket history: scoring a century in both innings and taking five wickets in both innings of the same match. Against Somerset at Bath, Hirst made 111 and 117 not out before claiming 6 for 70 and 5 for 45, finishing with 228 runs and 11 wickets as Yorkshire won by 389 runs.
